From the President's Desk Celebrating What We’ve Built, Choosing What Comes Next |
As we move into July and recognize the 250th anniversary of our country, I’ve been thinking about what it means to build, sustain, and care for something over time. Communities do not continue simply because they once mattered. They continue because people choose to show up, participate, and help carry the work forward.
As Valerie shared in April, this year also marks 10 years of ICF High Country — 10 years of learning, connection, and community across our beautiful mountain states. Over the past decade, this chapter has created space for coaches to grow their skills, build relationships, deepen their connection to ICF, and support one another in meaningful work. That is something worth celebrating.
And, as a Board, we also want to be transparent: we are approaching an important decision point about the future shape of the chapter. For ICF High Country to continue in its current form, we need members who are willing to step into leadership and help sustain the work. Specifically, when we hold elections this fall, we will need new Board leadership identified, including a President-Elect/VP. If we are unable to fill the essential leadership roles needed to operate the chapter sustainably, we will begin shifting to a reduced activity model in January.
As coaches, we often help others listen honestly, choose intentionally, and act in alignment with what matters. This is one of those moments for us as a chapter. If ICF High Country has been meaningful to you, or if you believe this community still has important work to do, we invite you to consider how you might contribute. In early September, we will share a form where members can express interest in Board service or recommend other members who may be a good fit for chapter leadership.
Ten years in, ICF High Country has much to be proud of. The next season of the chapter will be shaped by the members who choose to help carry it forward.
